EIDOLON - THE PARALLEL OTHERWORLD (JUNE 2006)

Good Lord almighty! Finally got my promo copy, and let me say I am totally floored!

Its no surprise that Im a Pagans Mind whore, so I was pumped and ready for this release since Nils the PM Vocalist has takin over on vox duty.

After several listens Ive come to the conclusion that this sounds like a good mix of Zero Hour, Hallowed Apparition, and Apostles Of Defiance, all blended in with the great melodic vocals of Nils K Rue.

Anyone who thought Nils sounded amazing on the King Diamond cover "At The Graves" which was on the Infinity Divine reissue, will be absolutely floored at his rendition of Mercyful Fate "The Oath". I swear he sounds like KING DIAMOND himself! Absolutely amazing, you will be stunned for sure!

Very cool considering Nils, and Glen are big King Diamond fans (With Glen playing on "House Of God"). Nils is actually away seeing a King Diamond show right now haha.

Artwork was handled by the previous Eidolon albums artist, and the CD features some guest solos....including one by Michael Romeo!

Ive been a HUGE Eidolon fan from way back, and always loved talking to the Drovers when they'd show up at Prog Power. Im very glad that they added Nils, as he brings something special to this band.

Release date is roughly somewhere in June from Escapi Records. Put it on your want lists! Metal with a Vengeance!

Cool !!! It great to hear that this will be seeing the light of day soon. Nils is excellent, but I was unsure about how he'd fit with Eidolon ... who is a hit and miss proposition for me. Thanks for the heads up on this.

By the way Nils and Pagan's Mind did the best KD cover ever in At The Graves. ATG is my favorite KD tune.

I have been DYING to hear this. I can't fathom that this Nils/Drover creation will be unleashed in less than 2 months. It's going to be a GLORIOUS day when I get ahold of this!! Cheers!

Is that a cassette tape I see in the picture?...Whoaaah!

Yes that is the ORIGINAL ultra rare blue tape demos. Before Megadeth I talked to the Drovers quite a bit, and have been a big Eidolon fan for many many years. Funny how some of my favorite bands have mingled in projects together. It was an instrumental tape, and a few songs later found there way on Sacred Shrine, and also Hallowed Apparition totally reworked.

A very good man known on the PM X boards was kind enough to send me CD transfers of both the blue tape demos, and Sacred Shrine.

That tape along with Marc Ferraris Cold Sweat demos is some of my most favorite prized possessions I own on cassette! :headbang:

I am so looking forward to this. So is it more in the Prog vein than past releases???

I would have to say that I agree with your review. The MERCYFUL FATE cover is, in my opinion, the greatest cover version of a song in Heavy Metal history! Simply UNREAL!!!!!!

Ok for any of you who have been wanting to hear some new tracks here is your chance.

On the main site you can now listen to the amazing Mercyful Fate cover tune "The Oath".

The myspace page has also been updated with a brand new track off the new CD.

Just incase there is any confusion, I am running the myspace page with the bands 100% approval. Glen actually handpicked the newly uploaded 4 songs. :)

Enjoy!
