electric bill v. bottle of scotch

due to the cooling weather, last night i felt a strong pang for some single malt scotch. but due to spending too much money on beer last week, i'm a bit strapped for cash.

electric bill is due thursday, $41. that's about the same cost as a bottle of 18-year glenlivet. i now have a choice.

we were out front of the club in the rain, me and greg and singer/guitarist toby, and then DJ their sound guy comes out. It was about 1:00 a.m.

Me: yeah...it's past my bedtime.

Toby: How you getting home?
Me: well we took a bus cause of my car problems...I just called a cab on my blackberry.
Greg: So you're just gonna wait?

DJ: hey guys, xxxxx from Mouth of the Architect just asked us if we wanted to do some w33d.
Me to Greg: well see, I just called a cab, and...

$41? Dude, my electric/gas bill, in the cold winter months last year was $600.

exactly Zod. $41 is nothing. THough my electric bill never really goes above $400 in either the winter or hot summer months. my gas bill is always about $20, except when I run the gas fireplace

yeah that's like, the best reason not to move back east. you fucker'z electric and gas bills are ridiculous during the winter.

summer i average $45 a month, winter i average like $29. gas is about $11 each month no matter the weather.

Haha, it's crazy. You guys spend more in the summer (AC), we spend more in the winter (Heat). We're lucky... we have a natural gas furnace so heating is dirt cheap. And we're careful with our lights to keep the power cost down. Other than the fact that I have like a small server farm in my bedroom that runs 24/7 when I'm home.

Yeah, we had problems with the builder when my house was constructed. Our development forced them to put a second furnace in the basement (the 1st one they put in our attic). My cousin is a HVAC guy, so he's going to run duct work in my basement, from the new basement furnace to the the 1st floor. Between that, and the two ceiling fans we're going to install in the fron and back of the house (vaulted ceilings kill your energy bill) we're hoping to seriously lower the bill.
