I know it's a classic dilemma, but yeah I just got this sweet little epiphone studio les Paul thing and I'm diggin it, except for the stock pickups.
So I've done a little research but still can't decide especially for recording which I want
Id prefer Duncans live i believe but which would you guys go with in a studio setting

My genre btw is kinda that whole heavy poppunk thing kinda like PTV + ADTR + ABR lol so it's not TOO heavy.

i've used both Duncan Blackouts and EMG's. Currently got a set of EMG 81 and 89 in my hellraiser, and I gotta say, I much prefer them to the blackouts.

I've recorded pretty much the same exact guitar one with EMG 81/85 and one with Blackouts and the black outs have a warmer low end, but they're super loud. I prefer the EMG's honestly. I'd still rather record with a solid set of passive pickups though.

neither... support the boutique! go with bare knuckle, bill lawrence, john suer, lindy fralin, lace ...whatever! the list goes on and on!

why settle with some pickups that are in every practical electric guitar on the planet? the only thing unique about it is the hand that plays it.

i guess there is nothing wrong with the three choices above but there is certainly nothing all that great about them.

I bought blackouts a few years ago becouse they had Mick thompson to sell them :D And I really liked slipknot back then. They're great and meaty but now I'm looking for a different sound and considering EMG's.

EDIT: The bare knuckle painkillers seem pretty sweet. I just might get those next.
