I wanted to post a funny story that may hopefully help someone some day.
A few weeks ago I bought this Jackson Baritone online from some dude. Got it home and noticed there was some intense ground hum when switched to the bridge pickup (the pups are the passive HZs). Anyway I open the back up and to my frustration everything looks correct. No loose connections either. The guy claimed he got it direct from the factory and never tinkered with the electronics- I believe him, the seal on the screws was super tight.
Finally I take out the pups just to ensure it's not the pickup itself that's the problem. I'm looking at the pin connections on the back when I notice something funky- the wiring on the plastic connectors wire colours don't seem to match. Sure enough, I swap the red and white connections on the pots/toggle switch and ground hum is gone! I guess this is just a lesson that you can never be 100% certain that this stuff gets put together correctly by the manufacturer.
