I don't agree with the idea that we should all do what is "natural" for our species, as the only really interesting thing about us is that we can choose much of our behavior. Setting self-imposed boundaries on your behavior based on an interpretation of primate behavior is the same in my eyes as doing the same based on religious conviction, social norms, or philosophical leanings.
