End of the World?

a couple of good pics, mainly from the instruments (watch out, takes a while to load!)

Large Hadron Collider

complexity and size of that thing is hard to fathom....

Very interesting pictures, indeed. I have once been at the outside of a "small" particle accelerator in Dortmund (the "DELTA"), on the university where my boyfriend is studying.

It was amazing, although they let nobody in and I could only see it from the outside. At that time, I didn't even know what it is. So I asked a roomie of my bf: "So, what exactly does a particle accelerator do?" The guy, who studies that kind of stuff said: "It accelerates particles."
Yes, that's the guys who work on these kinds of things and they know what they are doing. So just calm down.

Um. Still alive. Ten fingers, ten toes, one head, two eyes, one nose, a pulse. I'd say I am still alive, still.

So that rag we call The Sun was proved wrong.

With the number of things that could potentially kill you, some fusion experiment that is being carried out by the best minds in the field, under controlled conditions, is nowhere near the top of the list.

Anyhow, lets drink to our survival. I know I will! (Or to finishing off the bottle I opened three days ago)

just bullshit!

im a physics person, trust me its damn safe

higger energy stuff occurs in our atmosphere all the time, and im damn sure that ragnarok aint a black hole :p
