Enemo-J – The Angels Will Return For Us
Self-released – Album – 2005

Distinctly contemporary metal, The Angels Will Return For Us shows a plethora of different influences. Metalcore and nu-metal shine through on a regular basis, while grunge, rock, and even rapcore have occasional appearances. Tight guitars vary between tuneful rhythm work, rockier and occasionally funky moments, melancholic clean tones and rare solos. These prove well performed, and the guitars are central to the sound. Above this vocals tend towards a metalcore shout with some death growling. Slapped, prominent bass is excellent, a major component of many of the songs. The rhythm section is completed by precise, well played drumming. High quality production and professional layout make this high-quality self-released effort.

The Angels Will Return For US is a solid album; the music is accessible, varied and well written. I found, however, the songs grew old fairly quickly, perhaps due to a lack of distinct identity - often they feel more like a collection other artists than a cohesive whole. This minor complaint aside, Enemo-J is well worth checking out for fans of up and coming independent metal. Good stuff whyich promises greater things for the future.
