I own a Engl Fireball 60.

I use this amp for Metal and Rock and i am really happy with the sound.
I really would like to get my hands on a Savage 120 but i cant afford one yet.

So to the problem, the Gainchannel produces a sick amount of noise and feedback when i am not playing.
Also when i turn the Standby off, so there should be no noise.. it leaks a little bit. But only on the Gain channel.
The cleanchannel works just perfectly.
It is really expensive to give it away to a repairman, maybe there is something i can do myself to fix it.

I was thinking about replacing the pretubes and see if that would make a difference.

Thanks in advance!

Simon. :headbang:

Thank you both for your kind answers!

The ISP decimator g-string looks like the way to go.
But i am leaning towards an amp that has more channels, more power AND a built in noisegate.
I guess that i have to get a noisegate anyways but man i just cant believe that amount of noise is coming from a healthy amp.

To me it sounds like one of your pretubes are bad; I've had that problem with a couple of amps.
If you tap the front of your amp when it's on and no guitar is connected and you can hear the tap through the speakers then you have a microphonic preamptube that needs to be replaced.

Thank you for your answer, it think you nailed it.
Going to replace my preamptubes, i hope this will help.

Currently i have an old Peavey cabinet with some worn and torn speakers in it, i think it is loaded with 2 Eminence Legends and 2 Celestion V-30s.
Anyhow it sounds like crap!
I have tried running this amp thru a Marshall 4/12 with v-30s in it and i get so much more low end and overall tightness.
I really want an Engl cabinet though but the thing is that the cheaper models is loaded with Celestion V-60s and the more expensive is with Celestion V-30s.

Is there anyone that know the differences between the 2 and is it worth spending the extra money to get the vintage 30s?

PS: I love Vintage 30s!
