i actually like dude's impulses better than mic'ing my 1960a now, haha.

ts-9 > fx-send to interface > voxengo AFImpulse with one of GH's new LOUD impulses.

drums are addictive drums which rooocks.

Sound cool Charlie!! :kickass:

Hey, you like addictive drums better then EZ or DFHS? i wanna try that demo tomorrow, see what it's like... sounds good in this mix man, but im guessing you used samples on top of the AD samples right?

actually, i like AD wayyy better than EZ. it's more flexible, sounds better, and the samples sound really, realllly good.

i don't know if i'd compare it to DFHS, which still, in realism is king. AD is good for stuff like this, just wanting to make an example or mess about a bit. i'd probably be more apt to use DFHS for real stuff.

and no, actually the only thing I used samples on was the kick! and that's only like mayyyybe 50%.

only thing I dis-like is the lack of cymbals you can use at one time, i think you can only use like 3 crashes/chinas/etc as accesories to the hats and ride.

The default settings are REALLY processed, but sounds decent straight out of the box.

You can remove the processing though, if you want :) When you open the main program and click on the drum names a little below the center line:
Kick, Snare, HiHat, Cowbell, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Tom 4, Overhead, Room, Bus, Master. You can adjust all the default settings to them (Mic mixing, compression, EQ, distortion and saturation), or disable the plugins completely and do it yourself in the DAW with your own plugins :)

Now, I've always wondered how you other people seem to get the FX loop output sounding so natural with impulses. I always get this:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhau/zto.mp3

Even with a LPF @ 12 kHz it's tinny and buzzy as hell (nevermind the completely out of tune guitar :lol: just did a quick test)

Lineage: guitar -> Powerball -> FX out -> Behringer MX602A -> M-Audio Audiophile
Plugs: SIR with BBAC-Half.wav from GuitarHack's impulses, L2 with Thresh at 0.0 dB and level at -0.2 dB and some mild multiband compression from 3.2 kHz on.

Uhm..it seems like SIR is turned off (it sounds like a simple pre track w/o cab impulse)... try to turn on and off SIR and listen if the sound of your track changes.
If it doesn't change...you have a problem with sir.

@cjwall

important question: while reamping, do you stay in stand by mode? is there a need to put a cab on the amp, while doing that. the thing is i want to reamp in my living room and don't to carry the fat box from the rehearsel room. but amps can end up in smoke, if you don't have any cab attached to it. i was wondering if it's ok if you leave the amp in standby without a cab attached.

SIR is on. Without it, the sound is a whole lot more piercing.

Edit:
Here's two clips:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhau/no-SIR.mp3
http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhau/with-SIR.mp3

The only processing is L2 on the master channel (0.0 dB threshold, -0.2 dB level). The SIR impulse is GH's BBAC-Half.wav

Edit2:

Oh whoops. I forgot that by default SIR plays both the Dry and Wet signal almost equally :blush: Now it sounds more like it with Dry signal off :lol:

Look at this picture

See where the fader where it says "DRY"?
Turn that bastard all the way down!

MUCH BETTER:rock: IS THAT TWO TRACKS?? WHAT IMPULSES DID YOU USE?

@cjwall

haha, thanks everyone!!

even when I do use impulses and leave the amp in standby, i still keep the cab connected.

remember, not all amps will send any signal through the fx loop while in standby, at least I don't think so anyways.

it'd probably be safe for me to unplug the cab, but in this case, i dont risk it.

Question guys: Can I leave my 6505+ in standby while doing this as well? I'm using the preamp out by the way. Would that have any weird effect on the tone controls? Would it work? I want to be able to record late at night. If I do this, would raising the master volume have any effect at all? Or would it be the same all around?

this is exactly what I do, but raising the master volume has no effect, as you are essentially bypassing the poweramp stage and using only the preamp.

so any master volume controls or any controls pertaining to the power-stage section have no effect (usually presence).

this is the main reason I started messing about with impulses, to reamp late at night, since I work overnights and during my days off I do all my work for bands (between midnight and 7am, haha).

works for me...
