Epica

Freakame, Freakayou!
I'm wondering what everyone's opinion of these guys are. Yeah, Simone's a pretty lady, but what of their sound, concept, etc.

I saw them a little while ago with Kamelot and loved 'em. Downloaded all their music (legally) but feel quite disappointed with the discography. Consign is overall a kickbutt album, but it feels quite lacking compared to them being live... which is not always the case with live vs. recording. I dunno how to explain that. And recently I've found her vocals to be monotonous, lacking the depth I think she could pull off, though again, she has her moments in Consign.

I'd definitely pay to see them again, but for right now I'm kinda annoyed with Epica.

Go ahead, talk amongst yourselves.

legally wtf?

My college (and many others) have some kind of agreement with CTRAX, a downloading thingy, allowing students to download all our little hearts desire without paying. Either the college or CTRAX picks up the bill. I don't really care. The only things is they don't pay for the burning rights... So I get the music through CTRAX so it's "payed" then go and get it off a torrent to burn. Muahahha, beat the system.

I likes them a lot, and I also saw them live..and they are awesome live!

But I think I'm a little burnt out...the same thing goes with After Forever....the music will really stick with me for a while, but then it fades.

The vocals are great, and Simone has an awesome voice, but she seems to hold back at times.

I love operatic stuff (this is the nevermore forum), but i'm not into death grunt. So, yeah, it's cool, but I'm not like WHOO HOO, EPICA!!!!!1!@~`121`1

I have a fairly diverse musical perspective. I listen to the most calm of ambient music to the heaviest of death/black metal. Of course I'm very opinionated about it, but decently diverse in my interests.
