EQ mag?

i like it the best out of the american mags, but one of the best mags i've seen for tutorials is from the UK: Digital Music Maker, particularly the "Special Editions".. i've bought several of those for my brother who is learning now with Digital Performer and Pro Tools.

Cheers James. There's a few music recording mags over here, but most seem to gravitate towards dance music and heavily feature every sequencer and package except the one I use!!! (Sonar 4 btw) I do like Sound on Sound though, as it is very level headed and broad in it's coverage.
I've bought a few of those special editions myself.

I might take the chance and subscribe to EQ as they're doing a pretty good deal at the minute.

Thanks again.

Future Music had good tutorials and product reviews last time i read it... was more electronica based tho.

I like SOS and future music....seems like the British mags are more comfortable giving products mediocre or bad reveiws than the american mags. There is a techno emphasis tho for sure.
Can you guys get Tape Op over there?

Never saw (or heard of) "tape op" in the the UK. Any good?
It's a free mag over here (US). I'm not sure how best to describe it. I guess I'd say it's written for people on a budget by people on a budget. But it's serious about recording. So basically you avoid the "buy this SSL console" type stuff as well as the total micky mouse stuff. It's not w/o flaws but it's very different than the other mags I've read. Anyone else who reads it feel free to correct my discription.

Tape Op also has a bit of focus on making your own equipment, not exactly specs, but interviews with guys who put their own transistors together and what not, saying how they did it. That's not my cup of tea...I'm still scared of getting electrocuted by switching my tubes haha.

I guess good recording practise is universal whether you record techno or whatever tho so its worth a read... sorry if I'm not making sense... bad case of flu going on here... :yuk:
