Longtime AMORPHIS singer Pasi Koskinen has officially left the band, according to a posting on the group's web site. Pasi's last live appearance with the band will take place at the Kontu Rock festival on August 21. "All touring plans will go ahead as scheduled and rumors of a replacement already exist," the posting reads. "We are waiting for a statement from Pasi in the near future."
FARMAKON frontman Marko Eskola will handle the vocal duties for AMORPHIS on the group's upcoming U.S. tour with TYPE O NEGATIVE. At the moment, there are no plans for Marko Eskola to join AMORPHIS on a full-time basis.
"When we first started thinking about this singer situation [following Pasi Koskinen's departure], nobody came to our minds," guitarist Esa Holopainen told Finland's Sonera Plaza. "But then we found out that M-P could be very good substitute for Pasi. I sent him all the AMORPHIS CDs and he is practicing our songs very hard at the moment... But let's see later who will handle the 'death metal vocals' in some of our songs."
