Hey man, i have the Near 05 set.. i can't vouch for the other set you are looking at as well, but all i can say is that you need to take time and read reviews, opinions, etc on whatever you are planning to get!
I walked into a music store, and saw the Near 05's for a decent price about a year ago.. not really tested anything else out there, or ever heard of em..
So i bought them.. and for the price, i would say get something else.. i dunno, if you are into translating sound and getting used to speakers VS what actually comes out on modern speakers these days, then get them.. but be prepared for a lot of trying and testing...
You see, the Near 05's tend to give me a lot of high, mid, and not that much bass.. however, when i listen to the song i mixed on the Near 05's on a normal set of speakers, or on a headphone, it lacks a lot high, and has way too much bass all of the sudden... that, you won't hear on the 05's when you listen to that song on the 05's.. so you need to translate and have knowledge on how things will turn out before if you mix on those speakers.. even before you begin to use them.. bit tricky, and if i am not mistaken, pretty common with "natural" sounding studio speaker like these.. but nevertheless, still damn tricky...
Someone will need to jump in and tell you if that is normal, since i have only tried these... but i have had better succes with mixing on my behringer headphones for now.. since i just take a sample of my favorite band with a very good mix, and try to emulate that very same sound... also, headphones really work out if you need to work on little details that you won't probably notice on studio monitors.. but you will need them, i think...
So again, take your time buddy... choose wisely, young padawan! and i hope others have tried the other monitors you mentioned...
