Seriously. Crowbar have so many great albums it's hard to recommend just one. For me, I find myself going back to Time Heals Nothing and Sonic Excess... the most.

I'm kind of incredulous about Jenn liking them, doesn't seem like something she would care about let alone think people are idiots for disliking. They sound like sludge-lite with a big bunch of grunge influence. Not my thing.

Just cause Acid Bath is from South Louisiana, I don't see where you could ever consider it "sludge". Unless you want to call it trippy sludge-lite for all their best songs (which are great, but almost not even metal). But the more screaming songs, heavier songs - have nothing to do with sludge.

Crowbar - Existence is Punishment (possibly best sludge song of all time).

I don't see how they're not sludge. Maybe it's cuz they're an early sludge band so to you they don't really match up to the sound of later sludge bands, but from what I know, they're widely considered an elementary sludge band.
Definitely a really weird sludge band, really psychedelic, but sludge nevertheless.

Acid Bath really isn't sludge considering they play alot of different styles. Good band though, scream of the butterfly is awe inspiring.

Yeah, cant go wrong with Crowbar and Eyehategod. Crowbar's self-titled I love, even though I do not feel like listening to it often because it is so depressing. Odd Fellow's Rest I love too. I only have Dopesick for Eyehategod albums and I think it is quality. The last song "Anxiety Hangover" is the best track off it I think. You probably know "Iron Monkey" but I recommend that band to you. They sound similar to Eyehategod.
