euro 2008

Metaltastic, each country's teams are made up of players with the nationality of that country. (it doesn't matter where they play)

The clubs over in europe have so much money that a vast quantity of the player in internal teams are foreign, but that is completely different from national teams who play in the world cup and euro '08

The Dutch are playing some amazing games right now, but don't rule out the Croatians. They're playing really strong as well. This has been a great tournament so far, and it's only going to get better!!

(sorry...double post)

Another vote for the Dutch.....Spain playing well too. Nice to see two usual "tournament chokers" finally doing well. A cracking tourney thus far, long may it continue!

And you'll lose with Romania so you'll kick off France and Italy.......the games are already written
It's better Romania in the next turn than France or Italy

Here in Holland there is also a big discussion going on around that.
We prefer to beat Romania so the are kicked out of the tournament.
Allthough some of the regulars players are put on the bench to get some rest, the couple of players that are put in, want to fight for their position in the team, so they want to perform!

Anyway, like said, they prefer NOT meet Romania and just get them out of the tournament, since they've got a playing style that we really hate. Both France & Italy are far better an nicer teams to play against.

How do European national teams work, anyway? I know there are all the big clubs in countries (FC Bayern Munchen in Germany and Manc. U in England, for example), but are national teams totally different, or are they like an all-star team of the best guys from the clubs?

Probally like 80 or 85% of the players of the Dutch team DON'T even play in the Dutch competition. Most likely they play in Spain (Real Madrid: Sneijder, Van Nistelrooy, Robben), Germany (V.d. Vaart, Mathijssen, de Jong), England (V.d. Sar, Bouma, Ooijer, Bouhlarouz)...etc.etc..

you talk, like you actually play in that team.

Will be having a pint of the black stuff later while watching the Austrians knock out Ballack and his mates....bloody well enjoying this tournament thus far!

No doubt once we get to the knockout stages the goal fest will dry up though. Nihat's goal in stoppage time last night was great.
