I like the songs The King Will Return and Seven Doors Hotel. They sound good in the old live videos on youtube.

So how is that first album? I understand it pre-dates them taking the more glam orientated approach.

The 1st s/t album is indeed their heaviest (of the 1st era) and best. It has nothing to do with The Final Countdown...
Follow-up Wings Of Tomorrow is also pretty good, some heavy songs too, but not as excellent overall. Then, it was the "commercial" era that I despised.

I really enjoyed the latest album (2006's Secret Society), with his heavier and more "modern" approach. Start From The Dark (2004) was also in the heavier style, but not as good.

If you like The King Will Return and Seven Doors Hotel, just go ahead and buy the first album. It's fantastic all the way through. And as labrekk said, you might want to pick up Wings of Tomorrow as well. Those two albums are real close in sound and heaviness.

Me and my friends were huge Europe fans back in the day, we had the first two albums and couldn't wait to hear their upcoming album The Final Countdown. Needless to say we were quite disappointed, leading us to call that album The Final Letdown.

I have final countdown here, left by my ex who doesnt want it either and I would gladly drop it in the mail.... if shipping was free, just to get rid of it...... great musicians, limp music. Im gonna clean house one of these days and save jewel cases.

I'll gladly take it off your hands.

I haven't heard the album itself, not huge on the song, but I LOVE the guitar solo. One of THE classic guitar solos from the 80s and one I've to learn one of these years.
