Just outta nowhere, I decide to check these guys out based on opinions I have heard from friend's. What do you know? I really like what I am hearing. And the fact they are pretty popular is nice to hear...they remind me of a cross between a bit of After Forever (minus the growling) and Nightwish. Songs such as "My Immortal" & "Forgive Me" had such a level of emotion to them, I had to place them in this forum...I felt a certain Anathema-like emotion as well.

Well, so...what do others think of Evanescence?

well, i could only enjoy 3 songs, which are Hello, My Immortal, and this Bring me to life (though like every chart stuff is "overplayed")! Though the lyrics aren't for me liking, i can hardly find some sense in them, i can enjoy these few songs. Saw them life at Rock am Ring and it was quite ok, there were deffo worse bands.

so i voted quite ok

I think the whole album rocks, she's got a cracking voice, nice bajoobies, and can fly...

I used to think they sucked after hearing the single on the radio. Then I downloaded the album and after having listened to it many times, I can say they rock.

i cant really swallow the crossover of the "nu" bits and "goth" bits. the music is listenable, but it's too much of a sell out for me. same goes for Within Temptation like, but i like their style better, cos i dont hear no "nu".

when i first heard "Bring me to life" i thought it was Lacuna Coil (!!!)but fortunatelly i was wrong... the're too commercial... i'm sick of listetning to Evanescence every time i switch my radio on...

i said it before. i think theyre really talented from what ive heard. its just a matter to put the right things together and leave out the lesser stuff (like the NUmetal sound, cause i heard that way too much last 3 years)

hmm, funny thing is, I find the song Bring me to Life nothing truly special. In fact, this is the song with the bits of "nu-metal" in it, and I just don't like that sound and/or style. I like when she sings "Wake me up inside" but the guys voice irritates me somehow, and the way he sings it....er. They have far better songs they don't have videos for....

And how are these guys getting so popular all the sudden? How does anyone get popular? I would like to know this, because I listen to Anathema and Antimatter and I must say, why on earth are these guys not up there with Evanescence? In terms of getting "out there." Man, I'm always the one getting into this mainstream vs. undeground debate. But, I just find it frustrating because the music in the underground is just as (if not moreso) striking and fantastic as that of the mainstream. I find this frustrating somehow.

But yeah, I'll add "Tourniquet" to the other two I mentioned of songs I like by Evanescence. That has a nice tune to it as well...

Indeed 'Tourniquet' is a great song and if that one had been the single instead of ' Bring me to Life', I bet there wouldn't be so much people claiming they are NU and that ...

i cant agree cause the whole cd sounds NU. its not because they have keyboards and a female singer that it isnt NU......
