Ever tried the Ibanez 2228 8-String?

I have myself, that exact same one. There very fun to play on and a lot chunk you get out of it as well.

I tried one out at a Sam Ash store. Maybe it's because I'm an Ibanez freak but it kicks serious ass. It plays very well, and it just feels more comfortable that the ESP 8-stringer they had. If it wasn't so freakin' expensive, I would have gotten it.
That is by far the most musical and genius approach to an 8 string I have seen! Leave it to jazz players to make something like that work. 
I've played both the Ibanez and LTD 8 string variants. They were both kind of cool, but I did not see much use out of it at those times. From a metal perspective, anything lower than A just sounds too low; almost in the fart sounding ranges (and A is even pushing it!). If I were to own an 8 string, I would probably string it up like a 7 string and add a high A string. Now to find a company that makes strings that tiny..

That guy is in a band called Animals as Leaders, they're pretty rad instrumental progressive metal.
