Ever wanted to rickroll the Mets?

The Mets have such a complete lack of any dignity or pride. It's fucking incredible and sad. I'm not even talking about their play- I just mean they way they present and market themselves, their image. It all makes me want to vomit.

Please elaborate
I understand that it's different for them because they're an expansion team and so it doesn't make so much sense for them to have the reverence for tradition like in Boston or Chicago or the Bronx. But...

The bright colors bug the shit out of me. Bright blue, bright orange. Then they have, I think six or seven different uniforms. More than two is unnecessary, imo, but six? And of course two of the extra uniforms are black, because that looks tough. The dancing, too. I know that's mostly just Reyes, but still.

I can't even really put my finger on it, but if you look at Shea Stadium, that really captures the essence of the Mets. It's all bright and people firing those t-shirt cannons into the stands and all sorts of WaCkY and / or hip and urban sounds and music blasting over the speakers. It's more like a circus than a ballpark. And that big, stupid fucking apple that comes out of the top hat! Fuck that thing. And the next stadium is probably going to be nice and all... but they are modeling it after Ebbets Field... The Mets never fucking played there. They're building a new stadium that honors the Dodgers history. What the fuck?

And it's also just the lack of commitment to winning. My Dad grew up a Yankee fan, but he lived near Shea, so he used to watch the Mets a lot. Until recently, the Mets seemed to have zero interest in putting together and retaining a winning team. After '86, when the won the series (you should know about that one, right) they sold off all their good players, like the Marlins after '03. I can't respect teams that do that.

I really don't know... It's hard to explain. Just look at the pride and tradition associated with teams like the Dodgers, the Cardinals, the Red Sox, the Yankees... Then look at the Mets. I truly hate the Red Sox, but I respect the shit out of them. I just hate the Mets.

I agree with you. I don't mind the colors that much, but I think you're right about everything else. Imo this whole alternate/throwback/whatever uniform is getting out of hand. I think 3 jerseys is enough (one alternate that is used 5-10 times a year is fine). Also on the topic of jerseys, I really hate those sleeveless jerseys. At least only shitty teams seem to use them.
