EXODUS axeman Rick Hunolt, who has left the band for unknown reasons, and who wasn't involved in the band's recent recording escapades at Trident Studios, has been replaced. SMNnews can reveal that Lee Altus, of HEATHEN, looks to be a strong candidate as Hunolt's replacement. Official confirmation is expected shortly.

I know Lee from PM conversations I have had with him at the Heathen board which I moderator.

I was actually asked to be his guitar tech on the upcoming European tour but I can't afford to up-sticks and go to Europe for three weeks.

:Smug:

I don't think this is true because:
1) Heathen have an album coming out at around the same point as the new Exodus

and

2) Lee joining Exodus would be convenient for Exodus but not for Heathen and I really doubt Lee would just give up on the band he's dedicated his life to for 20 years.

I'd be surprised if he did join Exodus but he'd be better for the band than Heathen seeing as he's not got a drug problem and can still pull riffs out of his arse whereas Rick hasn't written a riff for Exodus in ten years.

I think he's doing a lot better.

James wouldn't fit because it would mean relocating from Florida at short notice and, come on, how long can James stay in one band for at a time? Two, three months?

He'd be gone as soon as he got to San Fran.

I reckon Exodus will look closer to home as do the people who did this 'news' report and Lee, being a close friend of Gary Holt's would seem to be a perfect candidate if it weren't for the fact that he is to Heathen what Dave Mustaine and Scott Ian are to Megadeth and Anthrax respectively.

It's not like we couldn't produce a list of redundant Bay Area lead players. I mean, Rob from Death Angel is free seeing as they're on hiatus. Troy from Vio-lence, Glen Alvelais, Craig Locicero, Eric Meyer...

I'd guess Gary would want an instant replacement but I think pointing to the obvious candidates may be a mistake seeing as Jack and Rob are both pretty much unknown outside of Exodus. It'd probably be best for someone with no 'reputation' to come into the band.

Time will tell.
