What am I looking for above all? Warranty? Speed? Re-certified? I am looking for one with firewire/eSATA... I don't want to spend a fortune (if I did I would buy a glyph and call it a day).

What makes glyph so expensive? Reliability? Any other "consumer" grade HD's that have a good track record? Glyphy uses Seagate drives amirite?

(Yes I searched, I couldn't find a thread on HD's, that answers these questions specifically)

I was thinking this.

From my experience, It's a good idea to set your externals up like they would break at any minute. I have two externals, one has my audio stuff and the other has both a backup of my MacBook's internal HD and a backup of the other external, so if any of these three would fail me, I wouldn't lose any data whatsoever.

I have two WD MyBook Studio Edition 500GBs @ 7200rpm. Didn't want to settle for anything less, and they've been very reliable, but I never stop making backups for a longer period of time.
