Hey guys,

I figured I'd use this space to give a plug to a band to whom I recently mixed an EP. They're a local Australian band with, IMO, a lot of potential, and a very great manner.

Whilst the tracks that the guys presented me with weren't necessarily of the highest quality, and I butchered the guitar tracking a bit, the end result was still something that the guys seemed to be very happy with... and it is generally getting a good reception around the scene here.

So if you don't mind, pop down to their myspace here:

See if you like what you hear.

EDIT: Now updated with high quality version of one track:

haha thanks poidaobi, I saw your reply on the first Melband thread. Much appreciated.

@VH100R: I hope the band get the thing mastered and bring out the high quality samples sometime soon... I can't stand what myspace does to the tracks!

As much as it isn't the greatest mix I've done in my life, I think the guys weren't even expecting something of that caliber, so I was very happy for them.

I really look forward to doing their album sometime next year, where I can get involved from scratch and really get the fun happening.

I wish you and the band the best of luck with those recordings.

kick ass:rock:

Yeah I'm torn between posting a higher bitrate just for the sake of you guys hearing how it all really sounds... but I think that'd be betraying the band's confidence. I think I'll have to hold off until they release the actual EP, then I'll repost this thread hopefully with much higher quality samples.

haha, I don't really understand what you mean. Do you basically just want the Sneap samples with the processing I did? Because the original snare track has HEAPS of hat spill and was kind of worthless in the mix. If I were to export the sample with 20% original and 80% Sneap snare, you'd get other drum spill in it.

haha... i'm not sure what i meant either... i just really like that snare sound... as of late, all my snares have sounded rather thin and... just boring...

if you could post a pic of the eq you used, might help me a bit... also did you use the wavs or the gog file of the sneap snare?

Haha, oh yeah! Great work Ermz!
I really like what you've done with the vocals. I'd say it's one of the best mixes I've heard from you. All the best with this, hope it opens yet mroe doors for you.

When I get that band together it's so you and me on the recording and production haha :D

Hey man, I'll put up the channel settings I used for you when I get the time. It might be a little later on tonight or it may be tomorrow morning.. but I'll get onto it!

I cut up the Sneap samples myself when he first posted them as one file, and then I used ApTrigga to blend... or completely replace... hell I can't even remember anymore. I'll check for you.

@Neb: Cheers man. I think if I were to be involved with these guys right from the tracking stage... (and not fuck the rhythm guitars this time) the end result could be a fair bit better than what we have here. I really hope they go through and do an album next year, because I think some great stuff could come of it.

Yeah the band thing should be cool... I'm just hoping to get through the last 6 months of JMC ASAP, so the time becomes available. I'm sure you have your own things that keep you busy.

Also, the search for an amp seems never-ending haha...

Yeah no problems, pop down earlier if you want. I can't guarantee I'll be awake, coz I'm doing Shredfest the night before :|.. which you're welcome to come to btw. But yeah might be some living-dead action going on, on Saturday morning hahah.
