Serving time in the middle of nowhere
I've seen their name mentioned a few times here but wondered what the general opinion was. Any other fans? Obviously by the avatar, I'm a fan. Just something about it that gets me. Really ugly and negative sounding, I totally dig it. It took some time for me to get used to Mike's vocals but I think they fit the depressing/hateful mood of the music. I'd say "Take as Needed For Pain" and "Dopesick are their best works.

I've only heard Take as Needed for Pain so far, and I think it's pretty awesome, aside from the slower, more 'atmospheric' tracks. I like the way they play around with rhythm a lot, and they generally have a good sense for catchy riffs.

The vocals took some getting used to for me as well, but like you say, they fit the ugliness of the music very well.

My only real complaint is that their songs are often really simple in terms of instrumentation, and I think it makes their music get old faster since there aren't many 'layers' of sound at play. I'm not sure if they acquired a meatier sound on later albums, but it's something I'd hope for when I get around to listening to them.

Well it's sludge. They're usually just looking to play a harsher, grittier brand of doom. Take it for what's it's worth I guess, but more "layering" probably isn't on their mind. The production was maybe a little thicker on some later albums, but not significantly. Actually, I remember some of those newer songs they tracked a couple of a years ago sounding even rawer.

Great band though. I enjoy pretty much all their recordings.

The name is so stupid. I won't try that band just because of it.

And I refuse to write it.

Yeah I know, but admit it.. They could also be named "God doesn't here me".

Take As Needed For Pain and Dopesick are great albums. I'm not a big fan or anything, but EyehateGod are one of the best at the style they play.

My band opened for them in London many years ago. Probably the most arrogant, rude and ignorant bunch of pricks I've ever met....... Still, musically I actually quite like them.

Yeah once I started listening to them a lot, I got to love them. He's just screaming but he sounds real miserable, and to beat the dead horse, it fits. One thing, their lyrics tend to not make any sence to me (the one's I've read at least). I think Mike just writes down what pops into his head.

I've been looking to get into this band. What album(s) should I go for first?
