Well, being Portuguese just as Moonspell are, I've seen them live about 12 times, I'm overbombed with their stuff on radio, TV and magazines, so I grew a little tired of Fernando's voice...I do like the stuff they were trying to do on the Butterfly FX album. About the new album, It has some really good harmonies and very nice melodies but...it sounds just TOO MUCH like Moonspell. I think they're walking back...and they should step forward cuz they have the talent to do that! 'Nuff Said!

Interesting. I asked because I really like Moonspell, and I know you're Portugese. I've always been a fan of Fernando (and Pessoa - Opium- for that matter), but I feel he's a bit too pretentious sometimes.

I don't really have a clear opinion on the album as I've spinned only a couple of times. Not a knockout, not mediocre either.

How do you rate their earlier works... Under the Moonspell/Wolfheart/Irreligious/Sin-Pecado/Butterfly Fx.?

I was really into Under the Moonspell and Wolfheart in the moment they came out. Also Irreligious was a great landmark in the Goth-inspired metal. Sin was highly underrated because of its poppie/sampling stuff, but I guess this is the most sincere Moonspell album up to date. Great Choruses, great Lyrics, a wise variation in Fernando's tone, everything except for mass approval. I guess this new album sounds a bit too pretentious, and it seems like the Finnvox studios give anyone who records there a strange "vibe" that makes all song structures sound the same...weird...anyway, I still think that the metal world owes much to Moonspell. Hail to them!

Hail to them indeed.

Tenebrarum Oratorium, Love crimes, Vampiria, Opium, Awake, Full moon madness... some classic tunes there.
