Rex Brown from Pantera. It takes some serious talent to double a Dime riff on bass, and he makes it look easy.
Geddy Lee
Cliff Burton.

Jaco dominates jazz. Also, some random guy i saw at a jazz festival was very good. Speaking rock though, paul Mcartney and Trey gunn (who is in 10% of all bands on the planet Discograpyh). Tool has a decent bassist. Geddy Lee owns.

Jonas Hellborg, Stanely Clark, and Larry Graham are other of my favorite bassists, but they're jazz bassists. I need to listen to more Jaco Pastorius. I'll pick up his debut sometime.

Korn - I don't care what you guys say, I still like the sound of it on the first 3 albums. Pretty bold new sound at the time to make the bass be that thick. Good stuff!

I agree with you on that one. Bass you can actually hear.
