That's blasphemy.... without Black Sabbath there would be no Candlemass.

Without Black Sabbath there would be no "The Osbournes" either.

I don't know what the point I'm trying to make here is. I love Black Sabbath.

The only Candlemass thing ive got is a 'best of' and its not bad, so youd recommend i should get Epicus then?

The originally under the oak with the old vocalist is ten times better than the version on tales of creation. Messiah is a great vocalist and all but his approach at range is different in style/sound. Messiah fucks up some parts in the song by note hitting the right notes or in the same way. Both vocalists are so different though so it's really not worth debating.

pretty much

the "my heart bleeding for my race" bit is 1000 times more emotional with the original vocalist

Dan,

get Nightfall. Better still, get Doomed for Live or Live. That way you'll get the definitive (i.e. live - Candlemass are amazing live) versions...

Other than that, get Nightfall. You'll see I'm right if you don't...:kickass:

ok man, ill probably grab the Epicus one first as that has got 'solitude' on it and that one is on the best of that ive got and its fuckin wicked. Ive i dig that album then ill get some others, most probably a live one

cheers guys

Personal choice. The sound quality is better on Doomed For Live, but I felt the performance was better on the original Live disc. The show seems to drag on towards the end on Doomed For Live.

And, I found my copy used at Blue Meanie in San Diego, CA.

Live cds sucks. I'm personally aiming for a candlemass dvd.

I can't stand hearing live music without seeing the band.

I've got them both.

It depends on which era Candlemass live you prefer-

If you get Documents of doom you get the Live era - plus snippets of other backstage stuff (like Solitude Aeturnus covering "The Well of Souls")

The latest DVD has far better sound clarity etc

Both are great, imo:kickass:
