hey, that covers book sounds good!

I'd buy it!! :)

I'm trying to get enough cover scans together to fill a complete cdr, got about 150 megs so far. I think it will be cool to have a little database of 4 or 5 thousand metal covers on 1 cdr. The more obscure the covers the better. If anyone has allot of scans and would like to help out let me know. All types of metal is wanted accept black and death (only because I'm not into that type and I know nothing about it so I'll leave that to someone who does).

I am surprised no one mentioned any of the Dio albums or AC/DC Back in Black. Talk about classic !! Selloutica even copied them with their self titled release in the all black format.

You are sooooo right! It went to shit when cd's took over. There nothing like holding a nice big 12x12 record sleave, it's just not the same with a cd. Plus all of the computer generated art for cd covers is getting very old! How about a cover with just a band shot every once in a while people!

Derek riggs sucks since he does cover with computers!
Compare his work with gamma ray/stratovarius to old iron maiden covers !!!

OMG! It's Derek who does those Gamma Ray covers! I didnt know that.
Never cared to bother looking I guess. Kai Hanson is awesome.
I think those covers are fine for Gamma, fitting their music and all,
but OMG, comparing those to Maiden covers of ole, eee-gads man!

he did powerplant and blast from the past, and they both suck!
he perhaps tried to do something like powerslave for the powerplant cover (you know, pyramid and all the stuffs...) ... but he failed!!!

Yeah, Blast From The Past was just gay. Powerplant wasn't that good, but
not as bad as Blast From The Past.

with all the bands coming together I am seeing better artwork these days, but it is true about the computer stuff. I mean, how hard can it be to have an artsy drawing?

Nocturnus - The Key
Morbid Angel - Gateways to Annihilation
Opeth - Morningrise
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy
Cryptopsy - And Then You'll Beg
Nuclear Assault - Survive (yeah this one rules as well)

thats all I can think of at the moment. some bands just have good covers naturally, for example I could put any Cryptopsy or Neurosis cover
