Ok. You like Dream Theater. I see that.

No way, I hate them. They suck. Just because 17 of my 20 favorite drum tracks and 4 of my 10 favorite guitar tracks are made by Dream Theater doesn't mean I like them!

- (humming) fatty fat fat was walking down the street doo doo doo doo doo....

These are some of mine:

Jimi - Band of Gypsies - this whole album is just phenomonal. No studio trickery here, just Jimi jammin out some R&B/soulful/funky stuff in a three piece. This is what electric guitar is all about. The interplay between him, the crowd, and Buddy Miles is just top notch. Nice and funky with lots of groove and soul. Machine Gun obviously has been influential. If you are a guitar player, you could learn a lot from listening to this album. It's Jimi's best IMO.

Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow - Cause We've Ended as Lovers. Nuff said.

Eric Johnson - Manhattan - G3. Ungodly. This is the perfect guitar instrumental.

Duane & Dickey - Liz Reed - Fillmore East - what an awesome song. Both have great leads in this song.

Pat Metheny - First Circle/If I Could - Pat simply writes some beautiful music.

Eric Johnson - A Song for Life

I could go on for ages with guitar players and songs but since this is the Opeth board, my picks for metal:

Devil Doll - Dies Irae - really like the leads and tones on this album. Really any Devil Doll has tasty guitar playing.

Soilwork - A Predator's Porrait - awesome playing on this album
Opeth obviously
ISIS - Panopticon - love how they layer the guitars. Best record of 04 imo.

This is hard.

10.Master Of Puppets - James Hetfield/Kirk Hammett - Metallica - ...AJFA
9.Blitzkrieg - Yngwie Malmsteen - Alchemy
8.Hallowed Be Thy Name - Dave Murray/Adrian Smith - Iron Maiden - The 7.Number Of The Beast
6.A Fair Judgement - Mikael Åkerfeldt/Peter Lindgren - Opeth - Deliverance
5.Freebird - Steve Gaines/Alan Collins - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skeh-Nerd
4.Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour - Pink Floyd - The Wall
3.Machine Gun - Jimi Hendrix - Band Of Gypsys - Band Of Gypsys
2.Goodnight Kiss - John Petrucci - Dream Theater - SDOIT
1.Hangar 18 - Marty Friedman/Dave Mustaine - Megadeth - Rust In Peace
