favorite heavy metal drummer

Dude can I say comando from MORBID ANGEL!!!!!!!!!! On the latest release HERETIC listen to track #13 Drum Check!! The power, the tones, and speed!! Mickee Dee is great and a nice dude on top of it... Lars back in the day was great recording but has always been a horrible live drummer. His timing is sooooo off.... Lombardo is also great. And well the obvious charlie....heavy tones to get my blood pumpin!! I LOVE DRUMMERS!!

I am surprise Nicko Mcbrain was not mentioned a lot.

Nicko- the man makes a double bass sound on one bass drum listen to title track somewhere in time
shannon larkin- wrathchild america days listen to hernia insturmental
charlie B- of course. listen to intro of Schizm
troy luccketa- not bad of a drummer. listen to drum solo on don't de-rocke me.
chris slade- another good drummer. listen to thunderstuck
jeff plate- right up there with steve "doc" wacholz. listen to the wake of megellan.
steve "doc" wacholz- savatage's legend drummer- listen to agony and ecstacy..
vinnie paul- bass drum sound like loose paper but kicks ass. listen to mouth of war.. if not mistaken it sound that lars was trying to use that bass sound effect on the loads album. sorry larz that is vinnie's trade mark sound :tickled:

for hard hitting drummers
Chuck biscuits (danzig fuckin own)
mike bordin(take it from our drummer puff yes being good it gets you stuff!),

But for sheer insanity behind the kit I'd say:
Dave Lombardo(after i seen someone call him"lamebardo" on BlabberMouth,i knew id never post there......ever)
Gar samuelson(although I'm sure he's dead, but he was fucking awesome)
I would say Nick menza aswel but i heard he doesnt have what it takes anymore?!!!

oh and holy shit everyone check out this band called diecast, they aint my kind of thing they sound a little bit too hatebreed but there drummer is fucking brilliant (i talked to him after they supported napalm death). he was asked to replace Bostaph before lombardo came back into the slayer fold...now thats something! oh and also he drums purely jazz style which is extremely unique for heavy metal drummers and has the quickest double bass feet i've ever seen.

I like the crazy technical stuff that's been coming out recently:

Tomas Haake (Meshuggah)
John Merryman (Cephalic Carnage)
Chris Penny (The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy)

Peter Criss (in the 70's)
Gar Samuelson
Steve Riley
Phil Philthy Animal Taylor
Mickey Dee
John Bonham

I'm not gonna bore everyone by repeating a lot of the names already here but I noticed that Greg Hall was missing.

He was the original Sacred Reich drummer (before McClain) and he was fucking impressive back in the day, not just "puka-puka" thrash.

Nicko McBain
Our beloved Charles
Rob Sweet (yep!)
Mike Bordin
Davo Lombardo
Rick Allen (from DefLep - saw him live and man he was tight! The drummer from def lep 's only got one arm! remember that song?)
Old Lars
... and my mate Brian (pity he won't read this!)
