Favorite Opeth solo

Yeah, I agree. The Serenity Painted Death solo is awesome. They have heaps of others but personally, I think it's the best.

Deliverance does have some awesome solo's :)

One of the end solos to Twilight is my Robe, or that fast one right in the middle (after the bass twiddle).

or maybe.. Forest of October, or maybe.. Apostle in Triumph!

Or Epilogue. Or SPD. Or Blackwater Park. Or one of the nifty ones on Deliverance.

YOU'RE TOO DAMN GOOD MIKAEL. GIVE US SOMETHING CRAPPY WE CAN BITCH ABOUT!

What about the Moonlapse Vertigo one? Anyway I'm not to thrilled about their lead playing...

Yeah, the solo in Serenity Painted Death is good, but not THAT good. I'm surprised...

My favorites are....

Twilight is my Robe - 7:49 solo
Nectar - 3:58 solo
Godhead's Lament - First solo
Moonlapse Vertigo - The whole 2-part solo
White Cluster
Leper Affinity - First solo

Come on people, what about those?
Oh, and I haven't heard Deliverance yet, but so far it sounds like it has some good solos....

the solo towards the end of Deliverance, the one in To Bid You Farewell, and all the solos in A Funeral Portrait....well, most of their solos are divine, so if you ask me the same question tomorrow you'd probably get a different answer...

What other kind of lead playing would match with Opeth's sound and concept?

Well i didn't say it was 'bad' or 'unfitting', but some solos more or less seems like a random choice of notes and patterns.
