How rare is Merciless Unbound? I picked it up a few years back in a New York record shop. I like it--but I'm not really sure if it counts as 'rare'

It's not "rare". Their "The Threasures Within" album is a much more difficult find (Active Recs)

My favourite gem would be:

STONE "No Anaesthesia!" CD

Absolutely monumental and totally underrated thrash album. Actually, all 4 of STONE CDs kicked ass - definitely the best Scandinavian thrash band EVER.

Some of my other gem picks:

MANIAC "Look out" CD
BURZUM "S/T" CD
BEHERIT "Werewolf, Semen and Blood" CD
PROTECTOR "Golem" CD
HOLY MOSES "New Machine Of Liechtenschtein"
HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH "S/T" CD
AGONY "The First Defiance"
SHAH "Beware" CD
ROTTING CHRIST "Thy Mighty Contract" with orig. cover
VENDETTA "Brain Damage" CD
VECTOM "Spped Revolution" CD
SDI (Satan's Defloration Inc.) "Sign Of the Wicked" CD

and last, but not least:

WITCHFYNDE "Give 'em Hell" CD - the 1st Black Metal album released upon the unsuspected masses (and then ripped off by Venom clowns)!

Die Verbannten Kinder Evas- Come Heavy Sleep
If that's rare, then I think that Die Verbannten Kinder Eva's - Die Verbannten Kinder Eva's is rare too and I have them both. Others rare;
Emperor/Enslaved – Hordanes Land
Dark Sanctuary - Vie Ephémère
Dark Sanctuary - L'être las - L'envers du Miroir (Ltd Box)

Maybe it's easier if you go look at the thread "List your music collection" from a couple of days back, so you can decide what is rare and what is not (if you know any of the stuff I have).
As someone kind of said it all depends on supply and demand. If a record is released in 200 copies it doesn't necesarry make it rare, if no more than 200 people is interested in it then...
For instance, Diabolical Masquerade's "Ravendusk in my heart" pic-disc is from '96 and is most likely pressed in 1000 copies. I found my copy new in a shop in 2000 and I've seen it on several lists (as new) since at a normal price. It's a good record though!

I own all of their albums as well. Come Heavy Sleep is the rarest of them all.

I didn't knew that. How many copies of that is made? To me "Come Heavy Sleep" was the easiest to found. "In Darkness let me dwell" was easy to find too. First one's founding took over two years.
You have any idea how to find Ice Ages "Strike the Ground"? I've been trying to find it for years, with no success.
