I don't quite have a favorite yet. It is a killer cd. I have listened only once, as I don't have a stereo in my daily driver car. I will give it another whirl later today. It sounds very good, tight.

I thought they could have had a stronger track to end the cd with so it's funny that it's the only track track(not an intro) that didn't get any votes. It's still a good track but not a song that leaves a lasting impression that you would want to end a cd with.

They were playing "Paralyzed" throughout their 2004 dates. I'm guessing the other songs came later, which are a bit more technical. Most bands would probably want to put the oldest "new" song last, if that makes any sense. Plus, it makes a good closer for this CD.

Actually most bands want to put the oldest song first because it's familiar territory for the fans so it's easier to get into the cd right off the bat. Most bands cd's start out with the song that sounded most like their last cd. What you actually really want to do is have the last song be something totally new an different.

Well...just from personal experience, the newest stuff always sounds better to the band than the older stuff. You tend to progress the more you write, so you want your newer stuff to be showcased first. I know I don't want something we've been playing for two years to be first on the album if we've written newer stuff that represents where the band is at now.
Not to speak for IE, but maybe they chose "Paralyzed" as a closer because it's the least technical on STA and really works well as a to-the-point door slammer for the album.

ok, I have listened to the cd three times since my last post. I have to say that Timeless Winter is my favorite....so far. The whole album rocks!! I have been humming the songs throughout the day, so this is a winner of a album, in my opinion.

I sure hope they come back through the U.S. I need to see them live again.

i noticed that paralyzed sounded a lot like older stuff... almost reminds me of material from Dead or Dreaming more so that BiO

I voted for Out because I especially love the chorus so much. The high pitched vocals are great.

My other favs are Pain through Breathing and Nothing.

I need to listen a few more times to pick a favorite track. But I do have this to say about the album as a whole... Holy shit.

Also, Stu sounds a lot like King Diamond! Those vocals could rip a hole through the fabric of space-time!

I like me' all, but Out and Surrounded By Night are really sticking, as well as Nothing.

Timeless Winter for me, the part right after the first chorus just kills.....I saw them play it at the Denver Gigantour stop, Tim was doing some wicked sliding chords during that part and not even looking at his guitar...the look on his face was "check this shit out!"

Definitely A Past Beyond Memory for me. There are some great parts in that song. Timeless Winter is probably second with Out.
