Feared- Lord's Resistance Army mix

defiinetly. the di's were just awesome, very tightly played. The vocals did contain some sibilance and plosives, but nothing too bad, and the vocalist is pretty damn sick.

well, i updated it after reading TheWinterSnow's post on how to make your mix sound larger and warmer, and i can definetly tell the difference.
Any opinions are welcomed, I'm trying to become a semi-pro in mixing, doing some projects in my free time. Anything you'd change to make the mix pro-sounding? Would anyone actually pay for this kind of mixing and mastering?

nice work dude! a little too much OH/ambiance for my taste, but that's just me. What did you use for the drums and the guitars?

where's the bass?

well jack, i've mixed this on headphones and a hi-fi stereo, so my monitoring system isn't really top-notch, it's quite shit actualy. What did you listen to it on?

yeah I would definitely avoid mixing on headphones. You only ever want to check your mix on headphones. but yeah, I'm monitoring on these 8" mackie's, so I have a pretty clear picture of the low end. On second listen, its not so much the lack of bass, but rather the lack of "glue" between the guitars and bass. what is your guitar chain looking like? you might need a bit more low end to your guitars to "connect" it to the bass a bit better.

I actually dug up my old mix of this track if you're curious to hear what I did with it: http://soundcloud.com/blastaudio/feared-lra-mix1
This was a super quick mix, no guitar or vocal editing, so you'll probably hear all those noises, but just an example of a good bass level.

Also, the weak link in the chain of these recordings was certainly the bass. Ola and everyone else in the band was on point...but the bass player could use some work. so this isnt totally your fault. the bass tone lacked low end, so it needed a lot of work.

yup, you were right. I high-passed the guitars way too high (125hz). But i have to disagree about the bass: it's absolutely the best DI recording of a bass i have ever heard, although not the best playing.
