I guess I'll be the only nonmetalhead on the forum. Goin old school. I'm just testing amp sims thanks to this forum. SoloC seems to be the nicest to my ears. So I tried it out. Backing track is NOT me. Only guitars. Would like some advice on getting that crazy tone you guys get.

P.S. I do metal, just prog metal:)

i like it man im a sucker for this type of stuff i like your sound any details screenshots would be cool.. good job!

I didn't actually save this project as I was just messing around. I used an ART Digital MPA(important tube push!) into TSS-SOLOC-Catharsis3-C4-Voxengo Tape. I still can't get that warm round bottom end and present but not icey top end you guys get. What am I missin?

Can't believe I didn't see this earlier. You'll find a lot of people around here that have a soft spot for this kind of stuff. :) (and you'll find others that hate it with a passion) This sounds pretty good...but what kind of guitar sound are you going for? An older school sound to go with this 80's metal type stuff, or a more modern tone? I'm not convinced Ryan's impulses are the best for that 80's sound. They are FANTASTIC impulses (some of the best I've heard), they just seem to be more suited and voiced for modern metal, at least IMO. But then again, I always struggle and obsess about finding the right voiced impulse and drive myself crazy. So, what type of "crazy" sound are you going for? (and nice job on the Crue!)

And P.S. prog metal is always welcome to my ears. ;)

I am going for the modern thick punchy sound most heard hear. I simply chose Crue becuase it was the best backing track I came across that I knew well enough for a quickie try haha. I'll post another clip of a test in another thread.
