TGC is not a shit song! On the contrary! There's no Opeth song that is a 'shit song'.

If RR is making them do a video, then there's no argument about them selling out. If they're carrying out the labels demands without questioning, they're whores to the industry that intends to capitalize on them in any way possibly. That constitutes selling out, as far as I can see.

Exactly; there's a difference between the chance to make a video and the corporate decision to make a video. It was in their contract apparently, and I think the band or some members of it didn't totally agree with that idea. But there must have been other advantages with signing to RR, so they took that with it.

Let's be honest: the nurse-idea can't be of someone who's close to Opeth or their music, can it? It's a poor (Korn-like, let's be honest) attempt to express their concept behind the song. Anyway we haven't seen it yet, so I can't really judge. But the idea of nurses just frightens me.

I hope the idea of those BDSM-nurses was out of the question. It's been overused and it was a stupid idea from the very start. Didn't Dimmu Borgir used that as well? Or was that just in their artwork? Don't know, but I seem te remember a tv screen when I saw it

If RR wants to use the mental institution idea or sth, they could have done something like Emperor's Empty, although I thought that was also very poor The video didn't receive much attention either. Maybe that will be the story of the Opeth video as well. A gimmick, nothing more.

Don't get me wrong: I wish the best for the band. I just hope RR won't screw up their image with this video and attract all kinds of moshing 'maggots' (if you know what I mean) to their concerts.

Maybe, but the maggots on festivals don't get into a band without a 'sic' video or pyrotechnics on stage. When I went to an Opeth concert Lille (Fives) in France, I've seen none of them (yet) fortunately.

Couldnt it be a video tied in with the whole occult concept? 9:55 of the band playing would be 'boring' to normal people (though fans would like it)... its probably going to be shortened and be about the story of the album or something... anyone?

a basically dont get care for music videos and i predict that this one will be shitty because they dont get enough money to make a great videoclip so i see it as a gimmick...nothing to worry about imo
