He also used to sing in the german prog metal band Avalon before joining Firewind on "Forged by Fire".
But now I don't really know why he has left. Some say it might has something to do with Gus G joining Arch Enemy (meaning no tour for Firewind)... Again it's just supposition.

You're welcome, by the way Firewind's former singer has a new band : Kinrick, it sounds very close to Firewind, a bit less melodic and darker, but very US Metal sounding as well. Still I prefer Firewind...
