hey, im kinda new to recording etc, just looking some advice

im running protools 8 on a macbook and recording, mixing and attempted mastering, but its freaking my mac out, its 4 guitars, 1 lead, 1 bass, kick, snare, overheads and everything else on 1 track, havent done vocals yet

looking for advice on decent firewire audio drives, read that if you run the tracks from one of those, its should solve the buffer probs etc

not sure what to get tho, its just for home demos

whats the difference between firewire 400 and 800?

cheers

Had the same problem on my macbook pro, the firewire drive fixed it up good as new. The most important difference for you would be the physical connector. If you're using the newest macbook, you're out of luck because they don't have a firewire port (only the new macbook pro does and it's firewire 800.) The slightly older macbooks and pro's (mine) both have firewire 400. Hope that helps, good luck man.

Lol "it's freaking my mac out" dude...you're running your sessions off the system drive, lol.
