I've been linstening with crappy Logitech-Headphones at work (I'll check back with better monitors later), but on them your mixes sound quite solid.

I don't think that a good drum sound is all about to have or not to have Sturgis' cymbals or any of his samples at all.

The guitars are too low on volume, so they dont seem to be very defined, and consequentialy, not in your face. Either turn them up, or lower the drums, see out it works out. And that bass drops are very high on volume i would turn them down. And the drums don't sound bad. Your biggest "problem", as you refered, are the cymbals, they sound... plastique, dont know off other better word. Try to use some eq on them, maybe you can polish them. But it's good, so keep practicing. And btw, that second song it's very cool!
