i realise theres a lot of pumping/overcompression, but i can't get the kick/guitar sound i want without it, and the guitars have too much high freq's and i don't know how to get rid of them effectively without ruining my tone. recorded on reaper with pod farm, no metal pack. need some constructive criticism/tips. thanks :goggly:

1.Did you dualtrack? If not, do so. If yes, you should pan them way more!
One track hard left (80-100%) and the other one hard right.
2. If you don't own the Podfarm metalpack you could try free ampsims (like tse, lepou etc.) + impulses for better sound.
3. You can get rid of the high freqs with a lowpass at 12khz und a cut at around 5-8khz.
4. To get better mixed drums read this post : http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/production-tips/557807-mixing-drums.html#post8815442
5. Add a bass guitar track (correct me if there's already one) ... if you don't own a bass guitar or
a bass vsti you could use your downtuned guitar as bass.
EQ for the bass : cut 60-80hz (depends on where you boosted your kick), boost at 250hz (to make the notes more audible).
Also add compression to the "bass" and maybe a limiter.

Hope this helps a bit! :)
