First "official" mix - scientific tech death w/ breakdowns

Hey guys, I just got done mixing some crap for my band's EP last night.

I like it, considering it's the first one that I've actually put good time into and I did it under a ridiculously strict budget.
Anyways, I'd really appreciate some opinions.

Vocals - recorded with an MXL 990 [it's like $60 lol]
Guitars - POD Farm :loco:
Bass - POD Farm
Drums - Programmed - no real drums

really good sounding mix for the items you used to record, and an intense song as well. good job!

The whole mix is pretty wide, that's awesome considering the gear this came out of. The snare sounds a bit splatty and wide for this kind of music to me, but that's just my opinion. The kick could use a little more presence, maybe bring it up a tiny bit. The cymbals sound like they could use a little 500hz, they're pretty thin and lifeless on my monitors. Guitars could use just a lick of volume.

Thanks guys!

As for the snare, the rest of the EP isn't as fast. I thought the snare complimented those a bit, and I didn't automate anything about the snare through the whole EP. I probably should have changed it for the faster tracks. :p

I think you're right about the kick and cymbals, too, oroinvictus.
I didn't want to turn the guitars up too much since I'm no pod wizard and I can't dial in a realllly good-sounding tone. I'd rather mic a cab but I'm really poor. ^^

Thanks again for the opinions! I'm somewhat proud for accomplishing this with my little experience and lack of equipment.
