For Sale: Black Sabbath's Integrity

I find it funny how people fetishize FIDELITY TO THE ORIGINAL LINEUP. I remember so many people going NO JIM MARTIN - NO FAITH NO MORE BLEH when FNM reunited even though Jim Martin hasn't been with FNM for years.

Nobody cried when Bill Ward passed on Heaven And Hell like this, but they're crying like babies now. I have a lot of respect for Bill Ward, but this shit is just sad.

Thing is, I like Bill and he was an important part of their sound in the 70s; however, one thing that people neglect to realize right now is he's no longer a great drummer. Now, having said that, how Sabbath has handled this hasn't been the best, especially after I saw this today: http://www.blacksabbath.com/

That's right, Sabbath has pulled a Van Halen and has removed Bill entirely from all past band photos. That sickens me.

Also, this maybe the last time they reuinite, and people wanted to see the original lineup one more time. I can't believe they took his photos off the website. Crazy

I always thought Heaven & Hell was a Dio era Black Sabbath thing. And Vinny Appice was part of all of that except for Sabbath's Heaven & Hell album. Bill Ward was only on the HnH album, none further (with Dio).

Fact is Bill Ward was in fact screwed over on what was supposed to be an ORIGINAL BLACK SABBATH reunion. And so were the fans who thought that was what they were buying tix for. I saw Sabbath in the 70s a couple times with the original lineup. I know I would be pissed if I bought tix for one lineup and another lineup played. It's no fetish, it's reality. The original Sabbath invented metal. You're aware of that right?

Originally, they wanted Bill Ward as the drummer for Heaven and Hell, and he said no. Nobody really complained there.

While I agree that it's not the same without him if they're playing the Ozzy-era songs, and that when it comes to this material he's kind of irreplaceable in terms of tone and feel, I don't really care much overall and don't get why people care so much. If you missed this 5 years ago, too bad. That's not anyone else's fault. ;)

As much as I love Black Sabbath, I'll also say this. I love all Black Sabbath. I love Dio Sabbath. I freaking adore Tony Martin Sabbath.

Those other singers did the old Ozzy songs. I really wish the Ozzy-fronted Sabbath wasn't so frontman ego-driven and would actually do some of the later material. I'd fucking love to hear Ozzy give one of those Heaven and Hell songs or HELL man: Headless Cross?! Could he do it?!

I like all era's of Sabbath too, Tyr was amazing, HnH, saw them w/Gillan fronting and liked Born Again, all good. I would imagine that if Ozzy hasn't done any other era songs yet, it probably won't happen. Would be interesting though.

I can understand that, but people miss tours all the time, especially as expensive as it is to tour these days and the resulting tix prices. But just think of the most classic and well known Sabbath songs and who was drummer on them. I think that's why people are upset.
