License can be transferred, I've checked with Steinberg. So this would be 100% legal. This is sold new for 349€ (best price I've seen so far). I'm selling for 300€. I know this isn't the greatest deal on earth, but you would be getting the full product without any restrictions and unregistered license (as if it was bought new), so I thought 50€ less would be reasonable. If you're interested or got any questions post here or PM me. Thanks.

Oh, and sorry for spamming the forum. But it's the only audio forum I visit regularly and many Steinberg users here. So I could imagine it might be relevant to some people.

why are you selling it

What are you going with instead of Cubase 5?

Actually I thought about that for quite some time. There's many things I don't like about Cubase, but then again I'm very used to it. If Pro Tools LE had Latency Compensation, I'd probably start to think again... Tried Reaper, but it isn't there yet, but it's something I'll check again when v5 or so comes out.
Anyway, I got Cubase 5 (not Cubase Studio 5 - which is the smaller version I'm selling here) for free because the father of my girlfriend bought it just for trying it out and didn't like it. Which also answers Joeys question. Yeah I know, was unbelievable for me too at first. But as you can imagine, I didn't say no. :heh:

Strange how the international pricing varies. Here in Oz the brand new FULL version of Cubase 5 (not studio) can be had for ~$499, which is less than 300€. That's the educational price though, so you gotta know a student or a teacher, haha.

Good luck with the sale. I'm kind of in the same boat. I don't know what to do... Cubase isn't for me, but the move to ProTools isn't worth it without the full HD system so... sigh.

Yeah I know, what I'm offering is the regular (non-educational) version. The educational license of Cubase 5 can be had for 269€ here, but it's personal and non-transferable. When I saw those prices I was kinda bummed I'm not at university anymore... :Smug:

Did cubase do away with the dongle? I thought the dongle could just go with it and that was like selling the license?

Good lord I think Stienberg's policies are somewhat fucked.

Well, there's still the Steinberg Key (USB), where the license is stored on. But they must be doing something right, because Cubase 4 and 5 still haven't been cracked yet. Compare that to all the iLok stuff - always "available" shorty after release. It's kind of a good feeling (like with SSD) that after you spent the money you don't have all the kids running it. You know, EVERYONE has the Waves plugins and stuff like that...

That's true, though you want your money to actually buy you something... buying Cubase feels a bit like going to the pet store and buying the mangy, flea-ridden street mutt only because you didn't have the money to buy that beautiful golden retriever... you know, that one that's really good at editing drums!
