Once you get out and travel around you will realize that we have it pretty damn good here, not without serious flaws, but pretty damn good.
War is war is war. That is why it is called war, not balloons and butterflies. I have customers dating back to WW2 veterans that like to come over and drink coffee, bs and show picture albums. A helicopter laying down fire on civilians is very tame shit compared to a photo album of nazi concentration camps, frozen fields of bodies, and asian torture practices through Korea and Veitnam.
Personally I do not agree on George jr's seemingly personal vendetta to accomplish what his father failed to do, along with an "entitled" general populous whom nods along with the mass marketed media with very little neuro activity. Let alone the U.N. meddling that goes on.
The problem with the United States is a very large part of it's population would rather take the easy way out rather than put effort forth.
Kudos to our troops who have and or had to put up with it all.
Hot damn, Lynn. I know we go back and forth sometimes, but ho-ly sheeut was that awesome.
Seriously, the civilians being shot is a tragedy but, again, it's war. This stuff pales in comparison to the military practices of other places in the world. Do you know why John McCain's arm is so fucked up? Because Vietnamese torture practices entail tying one's hands behind his back to a board, and said board is attached to a rope on a pulley system over their head. The interrogator stands in front of the prisoner and slowly starts to pull the rope forward, thereby pulling their arms from behind their back, over their head, and rotating completely around to the front. Some would break and spill their guts at the first snap, but some of the tougher ones could last until the pain was just too unbearable, but by that time both of their shoulders and arms were broken. We make fun of those people in political campaigns. This happened to HIM...not just people like him, but he himself.
Think about this: everything about your life that you have and enjoy was gotten through the exploitation of someone else, or a war with another country, whether directly or by proxy. It's ugly but it's true. However, I don't see people not buying Nike, diamonds, or cocaine to protest it. As long as people can have their iphones and internet, they don't want to see how they get it, just that they have it. This is how the world works now. It's perverted and disgusting but we're all a part of it.
If more people joined the military, more people would see how ugly war really is and perhaps would take it more seriously, especially the politicians. Israel's got the right idea. I guarantee you that Will has a WHOLE new appreciation for the military right now, even if he may view it in a bad light. He now has an insider's point of view, even just a taste, at what real-world military life is like. The whole reason they strip away your humanity and break you down in basic is so that you won't go fucking bonkers when the bullets start flying and people start dying, but instead do what you were trained to do and what you swore an oath to do, and that you can handle it...at least as best as one COULD handle it. It's much better that Will realized it wasn't for him and got out at the beginning.
