For those who buy music

Just picked up the newest
Fintroll
And Dream theater- Awake

Also looking into the newest Darkest Hour- Anyone got it I have only heard the single-esque songs

The new Darkest Hour is sweet very catchy songs, I didnt like it at first but I gave it a chance and it grew on me very solid album.

Some of the sweeps are sick on this record. His sweeps and lead in general sound so liquid realy smooth i love that sound.

He's a pretty fluid player in general, but that last albums rhythm tone was kinda bleh to me. Prolly pick this one up soon though \m/

I kind of wonder when you guys listen to all of that music? At the end of the day, after I wrote or produced stuff for 6-8h, I don't want to hear anything else. Let alone listen to 6 CDs I bought ...

Oh, and James: have you not been getting laid lately? You come across quite rude over the past weeks (and if it is supposed to be "funny" - then it doesn't translate well) ...

I got the new AE and Nightwish, and will be getting the new Soilwork when it comes out.

Am I the only one who has a hard time correlating attitude and getting laid?

It may be sad that we have to title a thread 'For those who buy music' in some ways, but I like the secret-cool-kids-club aspect of it. Hey, look at us, we still go to record stores - fuck yeah! Can we smoke cigars in here too? I want a t-shirt...

Jeff

Ordered the new Soilwork

Kinda poor right now, so gotta watch how many I buy. You know, to throw another log on the download/purchase fire, what about downloading all the free stuff? I've gone to the official websites of a lot of bands recently to download some songs (ie: Amon Amarth) just to hear a sample. Now that I have, I can honestly say I will buy at least one AA album. I've already done the same with Arch Enemy, Opeth, Silent Civilian, A Dark Halo, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and Devin Townsend (among others). I think a good form of advertising may be for bands to release a few select songs to the massive P2P download sites to generate more people coming to them.

I just ordered the Soilwork CD+DVD+T-Shirt+Kitchen Sink special (Sixteen fucking dollars? Do they sell crack in their spare time to pay the rent?) despite being broke myself.

More sex = more relaxed ...

People keep telling me that, but I haven't noticed it. Maybe I should focus less on the violence...

i love the way people assume things on the internet... i'm relaxed just fine... you are jumping to conclusions and being very presumptive. i find that rude actually... in a totally relaxed, chilled out kinda way...

well how does this translate: Tatsächlich habe ich Webcam-sex mit Ihrer Freundin gehabt. Verrry relaxing....

 Nur ein Witz! Relaaaaax....

hey, maybe you should use the time you currently spend trying to analyze the sex lives of others by what they write in internet forums for catching up on your music listening... neither producers nor musicians can operate well for very long in a vacuum, checking out other music than your own songs/mixes/productions is crucial to staying fresh and maintaining perspective. i consider it a necessity, not a luxury.

back on topic, i went to town tonight and purchased Aeon - "Rise To Dominate", High On Fire - "Death Is This Communion" Deluxe Edition w/ DVD, Metalocalypse - "Season One" on DVD, and the 3-CD Audiobook of Stephen Colbert's "I Am America (And So Can You)"... now that's funny.

Junior High School revisited? When is my momma gonna come into play? :loco:

I agree on the necessity to listen to other music, but I tend to do that by buying single songs off of ITunes because I rarely ever find albums that are worth listening to as a whole. I just can't/don't want to listen to anything anymore at the end of the day ...

Interestingly enough: not listening to any kind of electro music has gotten me rave reviews ("fresh", "new", "his own sound") for my electro project.

I honestly can't imagine that situation, that sounds like no fun at all. That makes me somewhat glad that I'm not going to have to work in music as a full-time job, a good thrash album or two is the only thing that can keep me focused and sane enough to do anything resembling work (like pretending I don't have homework to do while I post nonsense on here before giving up on the boards and bashing my head against a wall until a physics assignment comes out) and I don't know what I could do without it. Music wakes me up in the morning, keeps me from murdering other motorists on the way to school, helps me pretend that I didn't just do the wrong assignment or bomb an exam, makes it easy to ignore people I don't want to talk to before I finally get home, and keeps me occupied at home when I don't have studying to do.

I've found that not listening to any kind of electro music makes me want to kill people a lot less.

Jeff

I have bought The Black Dahlia Murder - Norcturnal, The Absence - Riders of the Plague and ordered the mailorder edition of the new Soilwork! Really diggin the BDM, The Absence has got a couple of killer songs.. Now, I´m eagerly waiting for the new "The Arcane Order" (amongst others)!

:)

I think I'd listen to more music if I found more stuff that I liked. I checked out 12-15 myspaces of bands listed in this thread, didn't like any of them and then listened to Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power last night. Maybe it's just old age, but a lot of the bands I hear don't do anything for me ...

Most electro music is complete shit, that's why I don't listen to it, either ...

Yes!... i went to Junior High School in Germany by the way. good times.

Really? Where?

BTT: I ordered the new "Behold... The Arctopus" and been thinking to add the recent Gorefest and the 2 Aeon Spoke records. Other recent purchases include the new Down and Porcupine Tree EP. And been thinking to pre-order the new Exodus... ahh so much music... so little peso left. :erk:

My mother went to Germany for school briefly (her mother is natively German) and I'm looking at a couple of grad schools over there (in case Clinton, Thompson, or Giuliani gets elected) - is education there much different from here, language aside?

Jeff

better beer, less highway speed restrictions, more mullets.

Edit:... oh, you wanted to know the difference in education. in that case the differences are: better beer, less highway speed restrictions, and more mullets.

Last couple of discs I bought:

Fireball Ministry: The Second Great Awakening (GREAT vocals!)
3 Inches of Blood: Advance and Vanquish
Neil Peart: Anatomy of a Drum Solo (also reading Roadshow)

Currently, I'd really like to get my hands on the Viking Skull record!
