Forty Fucking Years

The sound from the 60s and 70s in the metal aspect is different because distortion and what not was introduced in the 70s. The most recognized pioneers are, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge, and Iron Butterfly. There are others as well but yea.

The point of this thread is that heavy metal as a genre started with the release of Black Sabbath. The point is not to debate this. The point is that METAL HAS BEEN GOING FOR FORTY FUCKING YEARS MOTHERFUCKERS!

I'm wearing my Sabbath shirt right now.

Actually, I almost forgot it was Black Sabbath day today.
I'll be spinning all my Sabbath vinyls, starting with the s/t, and ending with it.

Listened to the debut album earlier tonight, after all these years after first hearing Sabbath it still rules. Sabbath were such a big deal in the development of my musicical taste, the fact that it's been 40 years since Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill spearheaded this style that we all know and love is a real big deal for me. I can only imagine what it was like to be in a record store in 1970, see that album cover, buy the record, take it home and push play. I don't care what other bands people mention, nothing at that point in time was ever that dark, that HEAVY. "What is this that stand's before me? The answer is BLACK SABBATH
