FRANK BELLO Quits ANTHRAX, Is Replaced Temporarily By JOEY VERA

Guess who Frank will be jamming with? JOHNNY TEMPESTA!

From BLABBERMOUTH:

FRANK BELLO Quits ANTHRAX, Is Replaced Temporarily By JOEY VERA - Mar. 3, 2004

Bassist Frank Bello has quit ANTHRAX and is relocating to Los Angeles to join the reformed HELMET, informed sources have told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. The surprising move reportedly came the day after ANTHRAX finished taping the additional video footage for their much-anticipated live DVD, "Music Of Mass Destruction", due on April 6 through Sanctuary Records. Replacing Bello in ANTHRAX on a temporary basis is veteran bassist Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, FATES WARNING). An official announcement on the matter is expected soon.

You are right, though. It ain't news until it's confirmed by the bands themselves. Whatever happened to "keeping a secret?" That's non-existent these days!

Sigmeund Freud used to say "he that has eyes to see and ears to hear
may convince himself that no mortal can keep a secret. If his lips are silent,
he chatters with his fingertips; betrayl oozes out of him at every pore"

I saw this rumor posted to sludge like yesterday I think but it said
Frank was fired.

Add Frank to the list of Joey and Danny...which leaves ONLY Scott and
Charlie as original members! I could see this coming. Scott and Charlie
are dictators about that band and they ran into the ground.

I'm glad to see Frank quit went to a band that will do something for
his career and his art since Assthrax never will.

Why did he quit so suddenly? Did he have anything against the band?

But theres one thing for sure, the energy of their live act just got cut in half.

How do you know it was suddenly? because it wasn't public before now?
Could have been brewing in the camp for a while.

Maybe there just wasn't enough room in the band between their
guitar player of the week, Scott, Charlie, Scott's big EGO, and Charlie's big
EGO.

Well, nothing is worse than having someone whom you thought was a friend, someone you felt you could trust completely... rat you out. It's the lamest thing.

I wish Frank well. He was very polite and friendly at TOTT.

heh, guitar player of the week! nice one!
Yeah, may be that never occured to me.
I just checked in Blabbermouth again and apparently his friend- Eddie Trunk has confirmed Bello's departure.
So, I think I am done with these guys finally.
In someway Anthrax is like a sinking ship you know, only it refuses to go down. Scott and Charlie get the credit for not givin' up though.

Thanks.

Yeah, may be that never occured to me.
I'm sorry if I came off like an arse. I'm cranky before my first coffee
and smoke.

This is how Joey and Danny got fired. We, their fans never knew until
it happened and the decision may have been a long time coming and it
had to do with Frank's personal ambitions or goals or it was because he
was tired Scott the Ego General and his Uncle Charlie or maybe it had
to do with Frank being insubordinate and not agreeing with Scott The
Ego General. I can't believe that Frank and Charlie are related and Frank
is quitting. Scott and Charlie were always my least favorites.
Ironic how Joey and Danny and Frank are honestly my favorite
Anthraxers and they all left the band!

I used to love Anthrax as much I used to love Metallica. Back in the Day
they were the best.
Anthrax has been going down hill since Joey got fired- liked John Bush
really only with Armored Saint- and then Anthrax was sinking like the
Titanic when they booted Danny Spitz and now with Frank gone this is
the last nail in the coffin.

Assthrax are boring. They are yesterday's news and they copy
everybody else and Assthrax were the ONLY boring part of Chuck Billy's
Thrash of the Titans concert. During Assthraxes set I went up into
the balcony and took a nap.

I thought Frank probably quit for some other reasons. They haven't made it public yet because of some legal issues. Either way, I guess Scott and Charlie really showed their true colours now!
I agree, John Bush is a great Singer with Armoured, but for christ's sake get Neil Turbin back! The ANTHRAX dudes kinda shot themselves in the foot when they gave Joey and Dan Spitz their walking papers. Anthrax is the biggest joke besides Metallica in Metal. But It doesn't take long with listens of "Spreading The Diesease", "Among The Living" and "State Of Euphoria" why I still listen to this band.

You know, It just occured to me that none of the "Big Four" sound like what they used to sound and you have to progress(even Slayer has differed through the years) but I wish a touch of the old was still there. But ofcourse, you can dig deep and remember how good they once were.

I believe Frank was. I believe Joey did. Since Stomp? Stomp came out
a few years ago. Frank was what I'd call a second generation band member.
Now that he's out, Anthrax is completely gutted like a fish. Scott and
Charlie should be hung.

You have to know that since Frank and Charlie are related and Frank is
now leaving the group, there's bound to be some seriously bad blood in
there somewhere. East Coast family loyalty is huge so leaving has to be
a big thing.

Don't forget Scott and Uncle Charlie need some time to doctor up the
Press Release too.

I agree! So lame to get rid of your best talent! Scott thinks he is so great
cause he was old school with Metallica back in Jamaica,Queens in 83.
But in the end, he's the lame ass who tried to literally steal second base
from Yankee Stadium and he is the loser who hosted VH1's Rock Show.

Anthrax is the biggest joke besides Metallica in Metal.
Hands down.

But It doesn't take long with listens of "Spreading The Diesease", "Among The Living" and "State Of Euphoria" why I still listen to this band.
STD,ATL,SOE are really great discs but I also thought Persistence of Time
was a powerful record for them back then. A lot of people wouldn't take
them seriously because of I'm the Man and wearing skate shorts and stuff
so coming out with a serious metal record and wearing all band reminded
their naysayers they were the real thing. It did a world of good for them.

You know, It just occured to me that none of the "Big Four" sound like what they used to sound and you have to progress(even Slayer has differed through the years) but I wish a touch of the old was still there. But ofcourse, you can dig deep and remember how good they once were.
Aaaahhhhh. The Golden Age of Heavy Metal. The only promise of the Big 4
is Dave Mustaine. He's got Poland back and potentially the new Mega
record could be the best thing to happen to all of heavy metal in a really
long time. I'm curious to see what Dave does. Dave is awesome.

^I stopped listening after "Persistance of Time", which had its excellent moments but it just didn't do it for me. I found out that at about this point in the band’s career, tensions were mounting from within, and this could have been a major contributor to the overall feel. My favorite track on this album by far must be Gridlock. And a strange cover to do with Got The Time by Joe Jackson though.
Actually, I think a big part of why I listened to them was also because their songs were based on comics and Stephen King novels.

Yep, About Megadeth, lets just keep our fingers crossed!

I abandoned ship long ago, they are not the band they used to be, period!
I will say that Frank Bello, is a real class act, well mannered, nice, smart, & very NY.......Besides being a great showman on stage, I wish him the best of luck...

Personally, I love it when a band is hating each other and there's a big
tension because odds are good you can get a really great angry heavy
metal record. It's tough, it's angry, it's bitter, it's resentful...all good
things for asskickin metal. I thought Persistence of Time was awesome.
It had riffage, it had great lyrics, it was very musical and there were
some good prog moments but they didn't exploit the prog stuff into
Iron Maiden "Brave New World" bollocks. If they all hated each other
during the recording that's just icing on the cake for me.
Look at Metallica getting a therapist...they sound like a bunch of whining
bitches. A lot of people wouldnt take Anthrax seriously because of
the comic book stuff, though.

I can't wait to hear what Dave has done for the Rust In Peace remasters
and if he found a usuable master for "Take No Prisoners" (My Fav track)

So How did Assthrax get on the TOTT bill if you abandoned
ship?
