Free Sound Effects Online?

Anyone know of a good website with some free audio files of sound effects and background sounds.

IE: Rain, Thunder, Gunfire, Waves, Forests...whatever you got.

If you don't know of free ones, could anyone point to a website that might cell a CD of good stuff?

Also, anyone know of any good Portable Digital Recording devices, so i can record my own crap?
