From the start...Crusader.

Well where do I start! The cover - Superb, Crusader - Blindin', but thats it!!! I remember waiting for this album to come out, had my tickets for the tour, front row stalls, was waiting for another dose of metal - Power & Glory style, what we got was an album that was as far from Saxon as we could have got. There are a couple of other songs on it I like, Sailing To America and Just Let Me Rock, but they are no where near ANY song Saxon had produced before. This was the big push for the American market, unfortuneatly, it sold out all the loyal fans who'd got them where they were!

Having said that the Crusader gig was Fuckin' awsome, and at least this time we got a gate fold sleeve with the lyrics inside, the boss at the rcord company must have been on Holiday that week !

Another solid release, although quite different from the rest. .
Still a solid record and Sailing to America would be a great addition to the live set. A Little Bit of what you fancy always does you good.

Just Let Me Rock:hotjump: :hotjump: :hotjump:

yes, a very good album... ironic actually... opening with Sailing to America, filling the middle with Crusader and ending with Run for your lives... hidden political message there? Nonetheless, each track was musically superb...

Igot this album the day it came out .So despite everything i kinda like this album. But why the Sweet song?Do It All For You should have been in a Rocky film.A Little Bit Of What You Fancy is great as is Rock City .But the others are all for the states.

What version of Crusader have you got?!!

1984 carrere stereo cassette

side one

Sailing to america
Just let me rock
Bad boys (like to rock and roll)
Do it all for you
Set me free

side two

The crusader prelude
Crusader
A little bit of what you fancy
Rock city
Run for your lives

did you have a different version?

I found the album number (BZT 39284) on this website; however, they have the wrong cover and they claim it is a CBS album, when mine is Carrere...

In my opinion it is a "just ok" album, not too heavy. Besides, there is a huge quality gap between Crusader and the rest of the songs.

After playing a worn-out recorded tape for years, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Axe Killer (cd) edition that has the bonus tracks Chase The Fade, Krakatoa and a Medley. A very cool re-issue.

The cover is an amazing piece of artwork as is the title track, on the whole and because of those two facts i have a great respect for this album.

Yeah my version is different from that. I don't know what your version is all about but the original track listing is

Side 1.

The Crusader Prelude.
Crusader.
A little bit of what you fancy.
Sailing to America.
Set me free.

Side 2.

Just let me rock.
Bad boys like to rock n roll.
Do it all for you.
Rock city.
Run for your lives.

I used to love this album, but now I am just so so about it. The cover artwork is absolutely amazing. And with the gatefold sleeve, with the lyrics on the inside, it is by far my favourite album cover. Not just by Saxon, but by anyone. The prelude and the title track gets the album off to a cracking start, but the rest of the album doesn't live up to the great start. Having said that, Rock city used to be one of my favourite Saxons songs!
