Oh well we come to the end of our littke jurney. Its been fun i think. Its been interesting to see how come enjoy the shit albums, and for those of you who stayed loyal you have been rewarded in spades. As for people like me who gave up on them at the end of the eighties we had to come back with tail between our legs begging forgiveness.
Anyway Eagle3 is my favourite of the live albums. My only crictism is the track listing.I think it could have been mixed up a bit better,to many new songs on disk 2.

Yeah it's been a good series of threads mate. Nice one for bringing it back and completing it.

It is a good album. I know what you mean by mixing the songs up a bit, but I can also see why they did the tracklisting like they did. It gives you the best of both worlds the way they did it. If you prefer the old stuff, its there all together. And the same with the new songs.

As for the album itself, yeah I like it. It seemed a bit flat when I first heard it, but it grows on you. I think when you see Saxon live lots of times, it is never going to sound anywhere near as good on a cd. So a live cd is always going to come across as a little disappointing. But like I said, it did grow on me.

The funny thing is though, I have some Saxon bootlegs from the same tours, and the bootlegs are way better!

I can see the logic in the track listing but im not sure i like it 100% myself..Time will tell i suppose, when the newer songs also become old classics!

I like the album on the whole though, although i have not listened to it as much as i should have done by now

I have some Saxon bootlegs from the same tours, and the bootlegs are way better!

yeah as much as i like eagle 3 id agree with you on that mate, i usually prefer decent quality bootlegs to official live releases, the wolverhampton one from april is particularly great!!

its ok nothing more nothing less.... 6 out of 10
i think the crowd mix is shocking there are no cheers or anything when songs are announced or when they end its like canned laughter... pity because the tour kicked ass... that said the price was spot on and the packaging accomplished....good value but not a great advertisement for the tour

In general its a good live CD.

However my personal gripe isn't just about Eagle 3, (as other bands commit this cardinal sin) its just I prefer a Live CD to be one gig, not a cut and paste mish mash of gigs off a tour. By doing live cd's this way your naturally detracting from the crowd and the between song banter which (as Tim states above) is surely an integral part of any live cd?

Pax, Valanx from whom or where did you get hold of the above bootleg, as I'm keen to hear it?

...And the band(s) played on... Vittu!(=fuck,eh?) There is no better song than Solid ball of rock (even in live ;))...
