Fuck you Tim Burton

The visuals were interesting, but Tim Burton's camp tends to interfere with delivering drama. Even more obvious now after the Nolan films.
yeh that's kinda why i said "were"

they were not as campy as the 60s show which was all i was familiar with when i saw them as a kid, but there is a definite cartoonish feel, especially after the more 'realistic' dark knight movies

If you've ever seen Thompson's demeaner, Depp nails it. Apart from Empire and Jedi, FALILV is my all-time favorite movie...and mainly due to Depp. He is Thompson in that film.

 @ the part where he's in the club doing acid in the bathroom with Flea, and then he comes out and sees THE REAL Hunter S. Thompson sitting down, and they look at each other and Depp goes, "What the fuck...is it me?"

It IS a Terry Gilliam film, after all. Genius. That film really made me appreciate Depp as an actor...and Benicio Del Toro even more.

"Did you just see what GOD just did to us, man?"

"GOD DIDN'T DO THAT, YOU DID IT! I KNEW IT! YOU'RE A FUCKING NARCOTICS AGENT!!!"

"Don't worry about him, he's just admiring the shape of your skull."

"Now I...have got...TO GO!!!! JESUS GOD!!!"

You forgot the part where Dep & Torro are on Mescaline and Ether going to the 'circus' and Depp says to the guy at the turn gate.. "Dogs are f*cking the Pope?...... uuhhh... nnno fault of mine."

'Creeping Jesus' you are correct... Depp Is Hunter in F&L... full on Hunter.

The best film ever.

Fear and Loathing is good, but only if you accept Thompson as some kind of genius, which I don't.

A few elements are truly genius, the rest is just idiosyncratic meandering.

If there is a difference at all, it is one of scope. Mental illness is usually a broader and more inclusive term than Insanity. Insanity is usually reserved for describing severe conditions involving psychotic-like breaks with reality, while Mental Illness can include both severe and milder forms of mental problems (such as anxiety disorders and mild depressions).

Ok. You've got me there.

For fantastic horror great stuff, you should check Guillermo del Toro's work.
All he produces, writes or directs that is not about super heroes is great. The gay is very talented.

I recommend it to you all.

A great movie from recent years is Julia's Eyes (Ojos de Julia), you should really check this piece... suspense and a very envolving plot.

Tim Burton have got a major reputation, and he deserves it, but now I believe he focused so much on the movies visual aspects that he forgot to tell us a good story.

By the way, since I've not been here much oftenly...
Good luck on the new album! I've been listening Epitaph over and over this morning and it stills give me the chills...

I always say that but then when I concentrate on it more, I do like some of it.

His style just clashes with me. I don't like it. Gets on my tits. Elfman's scores are the same, I just don't like them.

I'd think more along the lines that unlike most other talented directors Burton doesn't seem to be making any effort to renew himself, which makes a very noticable sameness in most of his stuff nowadays, which is somewhat sad. Part of it would be solved by, well, having different cast members.

Why he makes Elfman make the same thing when he can do so much better is beyond me.

That said, the movies have the little good parts in them that keeps Burton from being entirely redundant. Just not enough
